A Closer Look at the Furnace Grates

No matter what type of furnace you have, the new technology that is used in the manufacture of furnace grates can be helpful to a homeowner. Today, this type of technology allows for the installation of units that are much more efficient and easier to maintain. Not only does it help homeowners cut down on their heating bills, but it also helps to extend the life of your home and make it more energy efficient.

Furnace grates work with the placement of air pockets within the furnace. These air pockets help to push warm air from the interior of the furnace to the exterior. They are also known as “cross flow”recessing” units. These types of grates are not typically as durable or long lasting as the traditional unit. This is why modern technology is needed in order to make this unit much more reliable.

Furnace grates, as they are commonly called, come in two varieties. They include Type II and Type III units. Type II units have steel plates that are bonded directly to the inside of the furnace core. They are very long lasting and very dependable. Type III, on the other hand, is made up of a smaller and cheaper unit that is bolted onto the furnace core.
